NOT A BEE - The Bumblebee Moth (Hemaris diffinis)

in #nature7 years ago

Despite how it looks, this is actually not a bee.

The @little-peppers had some fun recently learning a little more about mimicry in the animal world. We have always been amazed at the way that God made some animals to look similar to others as a defense.

Even most people would leave this Bumblebee Moth (Hemaris diffinis) alone, just because of how it looks. It didn’t fool @papa-pepper, so he let the @little-peppers check it out for a while before letting it go.

Have you ever seen on of these before?

Very cute bumblebee. Where is Papa Pepper?

He found it and took the photos!

I've never seen one before or heard of them. Thank you for telling me more about them :)

A new animal to know about! Great!

What a fascinating moth! Thanks for sharing it with us.

Thanks. We are glad that you enjoyed it!

Cheers @little-peppers! I enjoy the the reading. Thank you!

I hope I get to see one when we come for our visit. We can name it Humm, since it's not a bee, in which case it's name could be Buzz. We love you.

Wow, I have never seen one of those.

At least you got to see the photos!
