Ocean deep

in #nature7 years ago

It's summer! Almost all people will be again in the beach. We, humans are very lucky we get to enjoy nature's beauty and abundance.

Actually, with the shallow knowledge that all people have, including those who study our forests, underground, desert, and all others that is still mystery to mankind. For ocean, experts states that only 5 to maximum of 10% of its part has studied. deeper than that, it is kinda difficult for people to reach.

Lands has layers while Ocean has zones.

  1. Epipelagic Zone or The Sunlight zone
  2. Mesopelagic or The twilight zone
  3. Bathypelagic or The midnight zone
  4. Abyssopelagic or The Abyss
  5. Hadal zone or The trenches

The deeper the level is, the more temparature drops and sunlight to non-existent.
My own interpretation of the zones goes like this; Sunlight zone is the level where sunlight can travel. Twilight zone has little to zero sunlight visibility. Midnight is in total darkness as if it is always a night time down there.Should there be any light are those produced by the water species below

Lack of sunlight also means that there is no water resources available produced with the help of photosynthesis. Hence, we can assume that creatures within this depth are carnivores.

What and how much do we know about what truly is down beneath?

Let's have a short demonstration of how much and how deep mankind have explored down beneath.

If we submerged the highest mountain on land to ocean, there are miles and miles of distance between sea level and the rest of water part.

Land is scattered, to human it seems wide huge more than enough. But did you know that the land where all human is resting is only 1% of earth? The ocean has the remaining 99%. Sounds crazy and unbelievable, yeah? That's how unimaginable the depth and width our earth water is.

  • 330 feet- Largest animal on earth, which is the Blue whale usually hunt deep at about 330 feet until where the light of sun can reach.

Source

  • 700 feet- The USS Triton submarine is the first one to circumnavigate the earth year 1960.

Source

  • 831 feet- Is the deep, human have set record for free-dive in the history. It's so difficult because the pressure is already 26 times greater than in land. At this pressure, it is enough to crush one's lungs.

Source

  • 1,640 feet- Big whales however can dive this deep to hunt for a giant squid that is almost half of their size.

Source

  • 2,400 feet- Is called The Danger Zone for any submarines to reach. Though submarines are made to submerged in the deep water, even the modern submarines to go any deeper than this depth would collapse.
  • 2,722 feet- The depth where the earth's tallest building -Burj Khalifa, reached the tip upside down.

  • 3,280 feet- Is where sunlight is no longer visible. So everything is dark gray to black.

  • 7500 feet- Also called The Midnight Zone. Water animals that lives within this zone cannot see like an eyeless shrimp. Their only heat is from an underwater volcanoes.

  • 9,816 feet- Depth recorded that any mammal have reached. -The title holder for swimming this deep was the the Cuvier Beaked Whale.

  • 12,500 feet- Is where the RMS Titanic ship is resting. Not even the Cuvier Beaked Whale could manage to swim this deep. Although, small creatures lives in the area like Fangtooth, Hagfish, and some Octopus. The only octopus that can still this deep water is called the Dumbo Octopus. The pressure is now about 378 greater than in the land surface.

  • 20,000 feet- Also called The Hadal Zone. The depth made and designated specifically for ocean trenches like The Mariana Trench.

  • 2,029 feet- is the depth number you will get should you tipped Mount Everest on the Mariana Trench upside down.
Which is still incomparable to other depth that have searched.

  • 35,756 feet- Director James Cameron, the Oscar-winning filmmaker and National Geographic Explorer reached the ocean's depth by doing the Deep Sea Challenger Mission. For me, that is suicidal enough. The mission made 2012 for a matter of weeks. No question that it is one incredible and mind blowing move.

  • 35,797 feet- Pictured above taken year 1960 is the duo that holds Ocean record history involving Human. That was when oceanographer, Jacques Piccard and his fellow Lt. Don Walsh journey to the lowest point of earth below sea level.

After concluding that there is more life at the deepest of the deep ocean, unmanned submarines kept being sent for studies including Kaiko. Kaiko discovered more than 350 water species from 1995 to 2003.

Researchers believe there are still over thousands to be found and named species down below. Discovering the darkness and beauty down beneath us is as magical as knowing how solar system and what lies in the surface that no one knew up to date. Truly majestic and unexplainable.

It has been generation and centuries of reseach and mission. My hint is that there is no way we can even discover these all, leaves it magical and wondrous.
