Triple waterfall and Koi Pond - How to get rid of green algae in water?
Hello Steemers, we recently built a waterfall (triple!) and Koi pond this summer. We are having trouble keeping it clear of green algae and color. We tried algaecide over several days, no luck. We even emptied pond, refilled, added algaecide and it was green again just a few days later. Added more algaecide, ended up killing half of our fish, and still green after three more days of algaecide in a row.
Any other ideas or recommendations for better algaecide? We tried both API Algeafix and Algaway 5.4.
Appreciate any insight.

I'd suggest a uv light/filter and to try and cover half your pond with either plants like water lilies or duck weed or create some kind of shade.
Looks like its in full sun all day so algae breads super fast in those conditions

I don't know much about ponds, but your build pond with the waterfall is beautiful and so peaceful. Good job!
Thanks! We had help. On another note, doing additional research, it seems that most folks saying almost impossible to keep water clear when it is in the sun without installing a UV filter/sanitizer. That is our next step. The chemical method didn't do anything for us but kill fish. I wish I had known before hand, would have been much easier to install during build, we now have to do a bunch of digging and retrofit to put in the filter.
We chose a Pondmaster 40Watt system. Maybe I'll post the install or for sure before and after pics of the water.
