Talking about passion (passion fruit bush with passion flower)

Plant names is passion fruit bush. In Aceh we call it: boh ramboet bue (the monkey rambutan). Scientific name: Passiflora foetida.

Passion flower

It is a creeping vine. This creeper has a beautiful flower in spite of being in the bush. However, bushes presented the various types of life for our environment. The color and shape of flowers of this plant are varied according to the species, as well as the surrounding environment. That in itself is one of the species of passion flower, from the type of bisexual, white to creamy white color and purple in the middle. It also has lots of petals and stamen clear arrangement.

These flowers come out throughout the year in an amount that depends on the fertility and the age of stem. Something unique of flowers of this plant, is because it was open began since morning and closed before noon. Something more obvious, apparently, is this flower has a lot of nectar, often visited by many species of insects such as butterflies, honey bees, ants and so on.

Passion fruit (in the bush)

The fruit of this plant are formed in net bag. The net bag covering the pistil fruit and capable of trapping partially of insect species is like Carnivorous plants. The fruit will continue to be in the net bag so ripe unmolested. The fruit is round (globose) with a diameter of about 2-4 cm. Fruit color, typically, bright yellow and inside it contains many black seeds which are covered by mucus that tastes sweet.

In childhood, we are very excited (excited) when seeing the fruit of this plant, and sometimes, we were scrambling to get the fruit. Not only us, the birds also love to eat this fruit and spread the seeds are eaten to other areas.
