Into the forest of Avicennia lanata

in #nature7 years ago

Yeah, its name similar to name of the person. But it is the name of a species of mangroves!

It is estimated that there are about 89 species of mangroves growing in the world. 74 species of them grow in beach forests in Southeast Asia. Previously, I have also submit a post about Mangrove and it was one of its species.

Another mangrove species is Avicennia lanata. It is a plant that is easily found in the coastal forests of Aceh. Itself forms the forests in the area of the estuary, because it does grow in the mud plains, river banks, dry area and tolerant to high salinity. I went into one of that forest to take some pictures, which I will show to you.

For me, the most powerful fascination on Avicennia lanata is a heart-shaped fruit, its size is approximately 1.5 x 2.5 cm, and here you can see also some its fans (ant & beetle).

The dried leaves of lanata are made by ants be a its lair (anthill)

Yeah! No doubt! The trees are very beautiful. As I can see from your pictures, they are famous and admired among their fans (ants and beetle)! :)
