Spiders are beautiful, the bigger the easier to see, avoiding confrontation. Smaller jumping spiders, not so nice, never know what they are up to.
On occasion we have nice sized hunting spider who takes up residence in the home for a couple of months and disappears, normally uses the higher regions of the home that we don't occupy (ceiling), so leave him be.

I had one experience where there was a huge Red Roman about half a meter from my wife's head, and she is petrified of spiders. i almost said love, be careful of the spider....but knew she would freak....I just let her go and gently caught the creepy crawly and let her go.
