Black Flower Wasp

I saw one of these earlier in the week but I had no chance to stop and track it.

But today I had the pleasure to get up close to this Black Flower Wasp (Scolia soror).

I don't remember seeing one before.

Some information garnared from searching...

1. They tend to be solitary.
2. They come out during summer.
3. They are not aggressive.
4. The adults feed off nectar & assist with pollenation.
5. The eggs are laid upon grubs of a species that damage the roots of plants. The wasp larvae eat these curl grubs.
6. The metallic look with beautiful blue tinted wings.
7. The wasp is about 3cm long (1.1811 inches)
