The short leaf stalk is dark red.

Flowers are borne April–June in small clusters on separate male and female trees, yellow; 4-petalled.

Berries are 10–15mm,
Shape is oval and green in colour.it turns black when fully ripe.
Present in
They are native to dry areas of the Mediterranean. Widely cultivated as a pot-herb in Europe, often grown as a clipped shrub.
