A hidden treasure in Oribi Gorge Nature Reserve in South Africa.

in #nature6 years ago

Well here I go again! It has been a long term, and now the holidays are here and we are launching off on holiday. We visited Lake Eland at Oribi Gorge in South Africa in January, 2018. What a tranquil spot!DSCN9305.JPG
One of the dams at Lake Eland in the early morning. The mist was still hanging over the water. DSCN9404.JPG A couple of hours later the view across the water was completely different. So what makes this reserve so special? DSCN9383.JPGFirstly I get a thrill at the thought of sleeping so close to the water. You can literally lean over the edge of your porch and touch the surface of the dam. DSCN9318.JPG Secondly, watching beautiful water lilies unfold as the sun kisses their petals during the course of the morning. Nature at its most breathtaking. Watching Moorhens as they gather reeds to build their nests, and spending a vast amount of time chasing away other potential suitors for their prospective mates. DSCN9317.JPG
Once again we are visiting this unique destination over the Easter weekend, and I look forward to sharing some of the other attractions this area has to offer.
