Magical Parks in Asia and Where to Find Them (Penang Youth Park)

Say that you stumble upon Asia, Penang Island specifically, and you think to yourself : "Geez, I wish there was more to do other than head thumping beach raves and amazing tropical cocktails."

Well then stranger, you've come to the right post.

Being up North within our little peninsula right below Thailand, the island is home to lush tropical flora and fauna (aside from a kick-start music scene, more on that in another post). Now, given that you would like to indulge yourself in this rich treasure trove of nature, a good place to start off is the Youth Park.

Being one of the many gateways to the titular Penang Hill, Youth Park is a great place for one to experience nature whilst not being far away from the comforts of human civilization.

Youth Park is situated close to Waterfall road, and has ample amount of parking so a quick drive from town is of no hassle (that's for you tourists).

I went on a weekday evening, so it wasn't packed though I'd assume that the place would be crowded on weekends. A good time to visit would be mornings and evenings, as it does get quite hot in Penang during the afternoons.

And if you're feeling warm and sweaty (in a tropical climate, you can't expect not to be), there's even a community pool area where you can take a quick dip in.

Plus point, if you're into fitness but don't want to spend joining Zumba classes, there's one here. Wednesdays 6 pm is when you want to show up with your sweat pants and be part of an overly enthusiastic group of elderly people doing aerobics.

It's actually pretty tough.
