River: Tegudon's Pride

Hope you all had a fruitful 2017 and look forward to another fruitful year of 2018, whether a failure or success. It will define you in future.

For a start in 2018, I would like to share something which is closely related to our lives. Rivers.

River in Kota Belud, Sabah

Rivers, mode of transportation, source of food and water, cleaning, or in a nutshell - cradle of civilization. There are a lot of functions when it comes to river. You name it, the river got it. Nowadays, rivers also serve another purpose. In rural area, people make good use of its beauty to attract the urban-escapers and it has become a hit to the urbanites! It has become a hotspot for travellers to go camping!

Tegudon, Kota Belud, Sabah

The photo was taken in Tegudon, Kota Belud, Sabah. Kg Tegudon is a secluded village deep inside one of the picturesque villages in Kota Belud. The village is blessed with crystal clear water and the setting of majestic Mt Kinabalu. During a fine day, you will see the gigantic mountain at the horizon and it surely leaves you a very remarkable memory. The villagers started the river program since Feb 2017 when I was there, looking for this secluded spot. While I was there, the villagers were building some shelters and clearing the ground to make way for the camp site.

It is a very good initiative for the villagers especially when you think from the aspect of economics. The villagers are no longer depending on farming for living. With the social media booming nowadays, the smart villagers use this platform to promote their lovely picturesque village to welcome outsiders to come and camping, or relax by the river. Sure, you will be captivated to the beauty of the village. Besides Tegudon, other villages in Kota Belud are doing the similar thing with the similar approach. Though the camping fee is not on high side, the villagers are more than happy if the travellers love the place. This is something that money can't buy.

Fellow Steemiters, if you would like to have a piece of peaceful mind after a hectic working week, why not try a getaway to somewhere peaceful and relaxing? I strongly recommend Kg Tegudon in Kota Belud for a short getaway. You will love it!
