The humble dandelion 🌼

As a child I loved blowing a dandelion clock and pretending to tell the time.

My little boy, who is a budding entrepreneur, earns a penny for each dandelion he picks and throws into the compost bin. He suggests that by blowing the seeds around the garden, he will increase his earnings! 😊

Dandelions grow in abundance in our garden and we treat them as weeds as they are fast growing and evasive.

However, the humble dandelion can be eaten as it is rich in vitamin A, vitamin C, iron and calcium. It is associated with bone health, treatment of liver disorders, diabetes, urinary disorders and skin conditions as it is a detoxifier.

The whole of the dandelion can be eaten and it can be added to a salad or sandwich, ground into pesto, made into tea or even dandelion wine.
