Euphoria inda the Bumble Flower Beetle
Finally I have found a beetle NOT buried up to its ass in a thistle flower. While in the field I came across this beetle checking out the thistle flower in the first pic. It wandered around the top and managed to do a little chewing on its base before it took flight and landed on the next flower over. This is where it really went to town. The thistle flower was not fully opened and seemed to attract the beetle far more than the opened flower. Upon landing on the flower it right away began pushing its way through the petals and splitting them aside.
The beetle ended up digging its way down into the thistle flower and this is how I left it. Head down, ass up, mouth full of flower. Good thing insects don't have a problem with blood rushing to their heads like humans, otherwise they would not be able to eat like this. As bad as the beetles can be for fruits and veggies, I am fine with them when they have at the thistles around the farm. PLEASE! Go ahead and eat all the thistle you want! Really, I don't mind one bit!
