The International Garden Photographer of the Year (YGPOTY) is one of the most prestigious competitions of its kind.

This photography contest is about the beauty of gardens , plants and flowers , unique natural spaces ... And the International Garden Photographer of the Year is one of the main world competitions specialized in botanical photography.

This contest is divided into 11 main categories along with numerous special prizes, including the youngest botanical photographer of the year (Young Garden Photo of the Year) and an exclusive category for mobile devices (Gardens on the Go). It is organized in association with the Royal Botanic Garden of Kew (located in south-west London, England), the famous 120-hectare botanical garden (not surprisingly, it is one of the most important seed banks on the planet) where exhibits will be exhibited. winning images, followed by a continuous program of traveling exhibitions both in the United Kingdom and in other countries of the world. Recall that the Kew Gardens are part of the list of World Heritage sites by UNESCO since 2003.

In 2018, an image of the vast ecological region known as the Cerrado in Brazil by Marcio Cabral of Brasilia, Brazil, rose as the best photo of the year in the contest.
The first prize of the contest has a unique endowment of 7,000 euros.

The undisputed winner of the 2018 edition was Marcio Cabral from Brazil with his snapshot "Cerrado sunrise" (Sunrise in Closed). El Cerrado is a large tropical savanna region of Brazil.
