I PRESENT THE PHENOMENON THAT WHIP VENEZUELA IN THE YEAR 1999.
Dear Friends of Steem, in my new Post I will let you know about the worst natural disaster in history that affected 25 to 35% of Venezuelans, left in the country losses of more than $ 4 million, more than 500 thousand people without access to drinking water for several days, which led to outbreaks of disease, nearly 200,000 victims and more than 30,000 deaths.
It was a December 15, 1999, in Venezuela were conducting an electoral process to elect the National Constituent Assembly (ANC), which the President addressed the people giving a message through the media as the rains did not stop .
"IF NATURE IS OPPOSED WE WILL FIGHT AGAINST IT"
Just in those days they were feeling and suffering the effects and ravages of the Phenomenon (El Niño), throughout the country it rained in worrying amounts, especially in the cities of Caracas and the Guaira (Vargas State)
In the process of voting, when the voters went to the centers to exercise their vote, impressive events occurred, occasioned by heavy rains for several days, the volume of water was so great that caused the rivers that are around the Avila hill (hill that borders the entire Valley of Caracas) overflowed, both in all of Caracas and the city of Guiara (City that is located on the other side of the hill Avila), so that ocaciono a great landslide.
"Erosion or loss of land from the banks of the rivers, by the action of the water current."
Due to this, the rains turned the ravines into torrents, from the mountain range that separates Vargas from the city of Caracas, buildings were flooded, mud, water and rock avalanches swept houses and reached the sea, causing scenes that horrified the country , situation that mobilized the whole town, turning in the affected areas:
- Military Forces
- Security forces
- Rescuers Firemen
- Contributors
All in order to support and save lives, using to move boats (ships, frigate) and other means of transport, air and land, military and civil, national and international, were devoted to the areas with the aim of rescuing so many brothers They were on the roofs of houses, on the roof of buildings, under rubble, on top of mountains and even on the roofs of motocar.
This event made all Venezuelans join in spite of the differences regarding: Beliefs, Social position, Political Tendency (difficult situation at the time, since they were in the electoral process) in a single voice and objective:
"SAVE, SUPPORT, RESCUE AND HELP OUR COMPATRIOT BROTHERS WHO WERE AT THIS TIME SUFFERING LOST BOTH OF LOVED AND MATERIALS"
More than 200 thousand victims and an incalculable number of corpses, was the balance left by the heavy rains that hit Venezuela in December 1999.
FINALLY LEFT:
- FLOODED HOUSES
- DESTROYED COMMUNITIES
- BROKEN BROKENS
- DISAPPEARED DISTRICTS
- "N" QUANTITY OF TAPED PERSONS
DEATH, DESOLATION AND THOUSANDS OF TEARS THAT LITTLE BY LITTLE WERE FLOODING HEARTS OF SORROW. ALL THESE FACTS LED CHAOS TO A COUNTRY, WHOSE CONSEQUENCES WERE MARCHED FOREVER.
