Petra tu Romiou
Petra-to-Romeu is one of the most picturesque places in Cyprus. From the rock opens such a wonderful view that for a reasonable person eclipses all sorts of legends and tales that go about the cape. However, for all other romantics, it is more important that the legendary Aphrodite was born from the sea foam at the foot of the rock of Petra-tu-Romiu.
The same legend says that if lovers swim in these waves, they will never part. It is with pleasure and to this day enjoyed by the organizers of wedding ceremonies and honeymoons.
Interesting and origin of the name of the rock. Petra-tu-Romiou (the "rock of the Romans") refers us to the legendary hero of Byzantium, Deigenis Acritus, who was half Greek (Romaeus), and half Arab (hence his name is Degenis, which means "two-born"). So, it is believed legends, Digenis famously threw off the mountains of Troodos rock in the direction of the Saracens invading Cyprus. The legend and neighboring with Petra-tu-Romiou rock, called Saracen, echo the legend.
The place where the sea foam Aphrodite came out is very popular among tourists, but here it is not recommended to swim far there. The sea in the vicinity of Petra-to-Romeu is dangerous, you can not climb onto a rock, so most of the travelers are limited to a five-minute photo shoot. The smaller part hastens to "eat" seen in a nearby restaurant and buying souvenirs and a tourist pavilion next door.
Popular entertainment among the aphrodisiac fans is swimming around the so-called Greek stone. It is shallow, so even bad swimmers will not be scared, the only thing is take the sneakers, the bottom is stony. So, if you believe the next legend, women must swim around the stone to rejuvenate, men - to become invincible, and lovers - so as not to leave never.
Greece is probably the number 1 place I want to visit. Looks incredible.
