Mount Big Ahun is one of the brightest sights of Sochi. It is here that the main viewing platform of the resort is the famous Ahun tower. The mountain is decorated with a majestic tower, built in Romanesque style. It seems that it has been here for several centuries. In fact, it was built in 1936. Once Joseph Stalin, who loved spending time in the Hostinsky district at his dacha, climbed a mountain, admired the views and ordered to improve this place: to build a road to Akhun and the observation tower. The workers so zealously set to work, that the road was ready in 3 months. The tower was erected a year later and also in record time - for 101 days. The author of the project was the architect Sergey Vorobyov. The height of the tower was 30 m. It is interesting that the leader of the people himself did not manage to rise on it.

Up to now, the tower has reached its original state. Upstairs leads an external staircase, the last few spans pass inside. For tourists in the tower there is a cafe, where you can drink a cup of aromatic Krasnodar tea. Do not forget to look into the museum, a large exposition dedicated to the local flora and fauna.

The mountain is located about 20 km from the center of Sochi. The easiest way to go to Ahun with an excursion. Independent travelers can use public transport. In the Central area of ​​Sochi you need to take a bus to the bus stop "Sputnik", and there you can wait for the bus or take a taxi. Taxi drivers are on duty at the "Satellite" all day. The trip is 200 RUB. If you have chosen a bus, keep in mind that the driver drops passengers at the foot of Ahun, then a long walk will take you - 11 km up.
