Alistrati Cave
Cave Alistrati, found in the late 20th century by ordinary residents, gained fame as one of the most beautiful natural attractions in Greece and the most famous natural monument in Central Macedonia. And due to the fact that it is located near the city of Alistrati, famous for its history (during the reign of the Turks it was the center of spiritual and religious life), the flow of tourists does not run out here all year round.
For the first time the existence of the cave began to speak in the 70's. Then local hunters noticed that large flocks of birds regularly fly out and return "somewhere in the ground." An unusual phenomenon interested in the Greek speleological organization, and in 1975, the first exploratory expedition was sent to the site of the monastery of a huge population of wild pigeons.
Rumor about cave pools, curtains, draperies, straws of soda, stalactites and stalagmites of all kinds, as well as cave corals and rare aragonite crystals in the blink of an eye flown around. Since then, the tourism industry has started to develop actively here.
