Birds of the Fields and Meadows : The Skylark

I always remember the skylark from been a kids. We would walk through the fields and see this birds way up in the sky singing. A sight that I've never forgotten. They would always hover over their nest site. You had to be really careful walking as the nest are very well camouflaged and easy to stand on as the skylark nest on the ground.

You'll find these birds around the coastal fields in meadows and on golf courses

Eurasian skylark

The Eurasian skylark is a small passerine bird species. It is a wide-spread species found across Europe and Asia with introduced populations in many other parts of the world. The genus name is from the Latin alauda, "lark".
