-_ The Mycorrhiza _-
Some of you will be putting the same face that I put when I first heard this word, but if I also say that this word is associated with which some scientists consider the living being older and larger by extension on the face of the planet, then we hallucinate.
Or rather, and I point it out, the biggest under the face of the Earth.
And is that, this is called the combination, symbiosis and synergy of the union between the roots of the trees and the hyphae of the fungi.
It turns out that such a junction of tree roots and hyphae work as the neural network of a brain and its synapses between axons and dendrites.
It's known that they communicate with each other in a similar way to animals and distinguish between trees that are their direct relatives and those that do not.
Even so, they help each other to grow and share nutrients, but giving some preference to their closest relatives.
Older and larger trees are considered mother trees and share their water and nutrients depending on the needs of each plant or younger tree.
In fact, when someone chops one of these mother trees, the survival of the rest of the forest is drastically reduced.
It's also known that they communicate on the surface, through volatile organic compounds (odors), to share among them the keys to defend against various pests, etc.
It is also this ability of interconnection and generosity between them, which allows them to adapt, face or recover better against fires, windstorms, climate change, etc...
Experts say that they're living beings much more complex than we think and more similar to us than we believe and that as a sample of it, we know that trees have a pulse and breath just like us.
So you see, they're some very ancient living beings, fully connected to Mother Nature, who help each other by sharing their resources, warning of dangers and, in general, helping themselves to survive.
No doubt humans should learn something of the millennial wisdom of these beings.
