Crocodile story, Queensland, Australia
Before my travel to #Queensland I have been told to be careful on Crocodiles. Don't swim in the rivers. Look always around you. Be aware of Crocodiles simply. So I went to the farm ...
The farm runs a great people who speaks in Queensland's accent, very professional, friendly and knowledgeable in this same time. They provide a service in Australia which got skills to catch alive Crocodiles. #Crocodiles which cause problems in open space. So for example, if they kill the sheep from a farm or attack any humans the service is called. They have skills to catch alive crocodiles and put them to the farm where they feed them and breed them.
Crocodiles eat mainly everything; fish, frogs, snakes, turtles, insect, birds, pigs wallabies, horses and also humans. They look very scary and they can smash anything in them jaw. Crocodiles can stay in one position for even year if they want to attack. They can take energy from the sun which is enough for them.
They are two types of Crocodiles in #Australia. Difference you can notice in the size of them or shape the head (snouts). Freshwaters crocodiles grow up to 3 meters in length, although the females are much smaller. Both species live for approximately 15. Saltwater Crocodiles can grow to very large size. Whole females can grow up to 4 meters in length, males can reach 7 meters and weight over 1,000kg. No one is certain how long saltwater crocs can live. The ranger at the farm told me that they can reach even 100 years.
Farm keep Crocodiles in couple. They build for them two separate pools. The moment male come to one of the pool, female have to leave. Males can attack females if they are not happy with them.
During summer months females will dig a hole in a sandy riverbank and lay down up to dozen eggs. Sometimes males eat this eggs !!! Ranges move those eggs under the lamps where they will hatch in two there mouths.
Farms maintain small breeding population, and raise the hatchlings for severals years. They keep them in large shallow lagoons, under they reach marketable size, usually around a meter in length. The leather is used mostly for fashionable; very expensive handbags, belts, wallets etc. The meat is marked locally.
Was an amazing experience if my life that I recommended to everyone :)
