Orange planting

in #nature7 years ago (edited)

Hi Steemit.

I planted an orange tree around 3 years ago and it is really easy to take care. Almost no care needed except when it was just planted.

Recently i have seen the price of fruits gone up in the supermarket and decided to plant more orange. All the citrus family like lemon and mandarin are also really easy

Fruit starting to come out already

@djohan,
I think I know this Orange tree! It's not Orange color fruit, this one might be Green color one! A delicious juice and we are using it to drink while we got flu and fever!
Hope you could have more harvest soon!

Cheers~

thank you theguruasia, this one is just planted, so will find out in few months time when the fruit is mature

Can’t wait to see the oranges in the tree

thank you emilymichelle, I will post during harvest times

Growing your own food is awesome I would love to one day have an enclosed ecosystem dome

thank you bitcoinman, yes ultimately i would like to be independent on food and electricity. You can feel freedom not having to pay for food

Orange trees are wonderful. I have a Republic of Texas orange tree that's about 12' high and very productive. I also have a California naval orange tree that's about 8' tall and not as productive, but the oranges are larger. I planted a Moro blood orange tree about 4 years ago that is now about 6' tall and as yet has not produced any fruit. When it was younger, I didn't allow it to fruit on the advice of a professional gardener. He said young fruit trees shouldn't be allowed to fruit until they were about 5' high because it was better for their long term health to devote their energy to growing rather than producing fruit at a young age.

thank you gtrplayer, i think oranges like sunny area, i had one that was in the not so sunny area and didn't grow much and has doubled the height since i move them to sunnier area of the garden. It's good to ask advice from professional as it's not nice to wait few years and didn't get the fruit you are waiting for

I wish I had some land to plant trees. My dream is to one day have a house where I can plant all sorts of fruit and nut trees. I also want to grow some regular crops but I don't even have a yard now :-D

thank you hotsauceislethal, you can plant with pots, it will need extra care though, but still possible for smaller ones like mandarin and orange

You have 10 fruit trees in your home , that's great dear friend.

thank you pardeepkumar, yes around 10 citrus trees, there are others too

Self sustaining is the dream!

thank you kevbot. Yes it feels good not having to pay from the supermarket

That so lovely... @djohan When you plants your own thing or grow them up yourself....you won't pay for other efforts.. I like where that orange grow... Those small stone are awesome... I don't buy anything of fruit here tho.. .. we have Hundreds of fruit lol.
.if you need some fruit.. lol..

thank you davidad, i think it will help the plants to use smalls stones, so grasses wouldn't grow and compete with the orange. Yes it feels good to not pay others for fruits. We can sell it on steemit maybe in the future. lol

Planting trees is a good thing , if we plant fruit trees then it's great thing .
