How to survive in the wilderness: part 5, Dellicious fruits from the land of the midnightsun

in #nature7 years ago

Hello, its been a while since the last post, but now the summer break is here, and I will finally be able to write more. If you are new to this series, I am writing about how you can survive in the wilderness, but mostly how you can have a fun trip. In this part, I will write about some of the wild fruits and berries that grow in my homeland Norway.

The first one is the European blueberry, or the Billberry. Everyone here from Norway will know them, and most other Europeans as well. While they are smaller than the American blueberry, they are more nutritious and are therefore sold as a super food. You will probably not find it fresh in the supermarked though, as it only grows in the wild. If you want to taste them, you should probably visit Europe. They are starting to ripe right now, I found the first one today.

The next fruit is not as well known. The yew fruit is a red juicy cone that grows on the yew tree. The plant is very poisonous, exept the red part of the fruit. Maybe you should just let it stay on the tree.

Rasberry is a common berry in most of the world, and it grows wild in most of Norway. The wild version is tastier than the domesticated berries, but they are much smaller.

If you write about Norwegian fruits, the cloudberry is a must. It looks like the Rasberry, but it is yellow. It only grows in swamps in arctic lands. They are very expensive, and a kilogram might cost you over a hundred dollars, but they are very tasty, so it is worth it. In norway we eat them every christmas with wipped cream.

That was all for today, please leave a like if you enjoyed, and leave a comment to tell me what you want me to write about.
