Bee VS Prickly Pear!!!

in #nature6 years ago

Hey everyone, I have not done any decent Bee photography for a while, been too busy saving Bees, however, today I decided to go back to my original passion of photographing Bees and I feel some of these really captured them nicely. The Prickly Pear Flower and Worker Bee working in perfect symbiosis!!

It is truly incredible to me how bees forage survive and thrive but actually it makes perfect sense. They have such a Plethora of Tree's, flowers, shrubs to feed on that flower and bloom at different times of year as well as harvesting both pollen (bee bread) and nectar makes for the perfect animal equipped to survive and thrive, these pics are a testament to that!

I captured an epic video or two of these lovely little ladies pollinating these Prickly Pear Flowers which I shall be posting soon too!

I really love the 'action' shots just need to get a better camera at some point to capture them in more detail and possibly larger and better resolution, but for a simple cell phone camera these are not too bad!

Bees are covered in tiny hairs to optimize their pollination collection take a closer look and you will see little pollen particles fully covering these worker bees with the majority stored on their back legs!

Fun Bee Fact: All worker bees are female and live only 6 odd weeks in Summer and up to 6 months in Winter!

@papa-pepper requires that you post proof that you actually took the pics and here is mine. How do you like the Bitcoin representation? :)

Man! Super cool! Do you ever eat the fruit of that cacti? Also, have you ever heard of "BOS" Rooibos Iced Tea? Picked up some cans lately and they are claiming to have originated in South Africa.

Hey bruv what a small world ye man I sure do know of BOS my cousin was their regional manager they certainly are South African. Was it your first experience with Rooibos? It is one of our if not most popular tea in the Country and the only one I drink, very good for you, Thanks for the SBD and runner up position much appreciated. Pricky pears are amazing have not had one for years (hard to peel) but have previously very spectacular tasting I may add! Cheer$;)

Nice pictures! I would not have known they were taken by a cell phone if you didn't tell me! How long do those flowers last?

@craigcryptoking these are probably my favourites of the bee photos you've taken. @simms50 the prickly pear flowers last surprisingly long. Ours are also blooming and the flowers are already about 3 weeks old

Hhehe thanks sister appreciate that x

Not too long bruv a day or three. Yes this phone is a j16 Samsung 2 years old takes better pics than I have seen on better phones .. amazing.. Cheer$;)
