The river Seine as you might never see it before, the river is not just running through Paris, you know.
As some of you may know, last Sunday my husband and I drove from Rotterdam where we live to the Morvan (Burgundy France) were we also have a house.
It was a very nice day to make the trip, a little clouded, but no rain and because we were driving south, I was glad there wasn't much sun. Driving with the sun right in front of you is not nice, even dangerous.
In the Netherlands the weather was wet. There had been lots of rain and the soil was drenched with water. The water in the rivers was high and the land next to the rivers were flooded.
The first part of our journey we drove on the highways, but after passing the French city of Troyes, we left the highway and traveled through the country. From that moment on, it was clear that also in France the rain and the melting ice or snow had brought a lot of water to the rivers and the rivers were more than full.
We drove through Bar-Sur-Seine. As the name already says, it's a city on the banks of the Seine.
The river was so full of water, the water sloshed over the road. All the cars were driving right through the water and so we did. We couldn't stop to take pictures, but a little farther on the bank of the Seine, we stopped and I took a few pictures of the high water of the Seine.
The trees stood in the water up to their crown.
The water flowed very quickly and made a thunderous sound.
The river had become four times as wide as normal.
The greenhouses were flooded.
We drove for another two hours and we were home. Here the water in the streams is also very high. A man drowned when he fell into the Ternin, a small river in our neighborhood. In a small community like here, that makes a big impression.
Please be careful if you look at the fast-flowing rivers.
Have a nice day.

Wow friend very beautiful post, it seems as if I am traveling with you the very beautiful country. It is a creative work of highly educated lady, so it becomes so lovely. The pictures are looking very beautiful, I think it is very cold in the northern hemisphere, and your country lies in very high latitude. Thanks for sharing such a beautiful travel post, wish you a very happy and healthy time my friend.
Yes, it's cold here in the northern hemisphere, but I love the changing of the seasons. Spring will come in a few months and nature will come alive again.
The photos are impressive. You were lucky to be able to circulate. We also have floods here but the roads are still practicable.
I hope your home is far from a river!
I wish you a good stay in France.
Our house is far from a river, more uphill to be precise. So no chance of a flow over here.
Thank you for your good wishes. We are glad to be here for a few weeks.
ohhh its so sad to hear about that man was drowned and hope you are and also all the persons near river were save and thanx say us to be carefull from fast flowing of water
GOD save you and all of us and every person ,,,wish you good luck dear @clio
Thank you very much @shencoin.
thats strange to hear that the river water is on high level its look in your photos which you share cli mam hope there eveyone care about it and make thierselves save from this water and sure the goverment make a proper plan to save all the people from this floods and river high level water next time
I don't know how they do it in France, but in the Netherlands, there are good plans and they did much to make the dikes stronger. No problems there so far.
Don't drive through flowing water. I did so once long ago. I thought I could back out if the water got deep. I found I was wrong when my car began to float.
We watched the other cars drive through the water and it went well. So we decided to do it also. I'm happy to say all went well this time. But you are right, it can be dangerous.
Maybe this is a really blond question but if you drive in the water, isn’t the water coming in the car? It looks like it’s very high? It must have been scary....
That depends on the height of the water. We drove through water that came halfway the tires, so that was alright. The scary thing was that we didn't know how deep the water became halfway. But we watched the other cars passing and they were alright, so we did it too and it went well.
cool! do not know if I would dare...☺️
I can imagine the sound of that rushing water....and how scary that must be for those residents. I'm glad you arrived safe to your home and I hope the water stays away from your location.
The water will stay away from our location because we are higher up in the hills, but for the residents who live near the rivers, it must be very scary. I listened to the sound of the river floating past and the noise was overwhelming. Do you have flooding were you live? I read that in California in the US there are mudflows, that's also very very scary I think.
Those mudslides are horrible...they were expected after the fires. I live in Canada in Ontario near the US border.
I've heard rushing water before and it can be deafening. Especially more so when you know there is danger.
Glad you are in a safe place.
It is not often that Europe receives so much rain and bad weather. I hope the weather will be nicer for your stay in France.
I am afraid it will continue to rain for days. It does not rain very hard, but it's a kind of drizzle that makes you wet all the same. But we like it here anyway!
Wow nature showing some more of her dark side there! I think the meltingwater from the Alps shouldnt be underestimated in the next week since a gigantic portion of snow was dumped there!
Water is such a brutal force, I heard the stormkering were all closed last week due to the rising seawater even?
Yes, that's true, all the ' stormkeringen, were closed last week. It was also a test because it had been a while since they were lowered.
awesome photography keep it up
Thank you.
