Saline Valley Hot Springs
I'm headed out into the desert today, so I thought I would post some photos from a trip I took to Saline Valley in part of Death Valley. I took this trip with a group of friends from our local college, setting out for Sonora pass and highway 395. After what seemed like an endless drive on rough and bumpy gravel roads, we finally reached the valley and the hot springs.
We were lucky to have the upper section to ourselves, which had two built up hot springs, and some palm trees for shade. As we soaked in the springs a wind storm blew in, blowing sand everywhere, and making it hard to see. It made me feel like I was in some sand storm I've seen in the movies!
On the way home, we took a different route through the desert, and had to drive through an area that was previously damaged by a flash flood. Luckily it was passable and everyone in our group made it out--four wheel drive and high clearance vehicles definitely helped!
