wishes are no longer confined to only wishing well and blowing out birthday candles!
In areas of great Britain there are trees that have been granting wish for people for hundreds of years. Almost every inch of this tree is covered in coins hammered into the bark from people looking for there wishes to be granted.
“We had no idea why it was being done when we first noticed the tree trunk was being filled with coins,” explains Muerig Jones, a man who discovered one of the trees in 2011 and went looking for an explanation. “I did some detective work and discovered that trees were sometimes used as ‘wishing trees.'”
These trees are treated the same way as wishing well. Those who want there wishes to come true hammer there coin into the tree and then wait for there wish to come true.
The tradition dates all the way back to the 1700s. The most common wish was for a persons illness to be cured. But the belief was that if you took someones else coin out of the tree you would be cursed with their illness (Hence the amount of coins in the tree still).
“We haven’t publicized it at all, it’s just happened,” Muerig explains. “It’s quite amazing really.” This is the first time I have heard about this tradition, I am surprised that it is not something that is done more often by people all around the world (i guess people don't carry their hammers around with them.

If all money becomes crypto in the future how will people hammer there coins into trees?
Gotta be honest here, I suddenly feel like hammering some coin into random trees; Anyone want to join? Too bad I can't hammer some of my crypto into these trees.
interesting article I I know that rivers and fountains throw .and for the trees I first saw it
Yeah first time I have heard about the coin wishing tree too. It is very cool!
A whole art
Very Beautiful!
Yeah it is a very beautiful piece of art. Accidental creation but still amazing!
Is it in poor taste to build a Wishingwell in your front yard and hopes that people that walk by with her throw coins in it? @briandenver I have been collecting pre-1981 US pennies because of their copper value.
I have 300 pounds of copper penny sitting in my basement. If they stop making pennies maybe I can melt them down. Collecting scrap metal and copper is a fun hobby that pays more than my current one on my cell phone.
Lol that is creative! It is only poor taste if it is promised that the coins would be never taken out. haha very clever!
That looks really cool!
Don't do it to living trees though, kids.
lol all trees are living trees until the are disconnected from the ground in my opinion.....Then they become wood.
This is great job! You have real talent over there! Keep up the great work.
Thanks, I appreciate it! what is my talent?
Wow. The coin trees are strange. Never seen anything like that before. It will be very interesting to see if this post catches wind. I'm new here on Steemit compared to you. Only two month's in. I've spent a lot of time writing to only have a few post really take off. I've been living out of a backpack for 10 years and write travel reports and tips.
You've been on here blogging for a year. Has it been worth your time? Any steemit strategy work best to gain followers? Thanks for sharing. I enjoyed your post.
