It is the national bird of Norway, the white-throated dipper (Cinclus cinclus).
The white-throated dipper is found in the whole of Norway and symbolizes the people who live there because it is hardy.
It is a good diver and can stay up to a minute under water, where it uses its wings for swimming. It finds its food under water and the diet consists of larvae, nymphs and insects.
The nesting place is along the banks of fast-flowing, rocky streams and rivers with rapid waterfalls. The nest is usually positioned close to running water, behind a waterfall, under a bridge or on a cliff and it is covered and has an opening on the side and it can be used several years in a row.
The white-throated dipper usually stays close to the nesting place during winter.
