The Beauty in the Vegetable Garden #1: Okra's flower
Who said that gardens are for beauty while vegetable gardens are for eating? There are so many underrated flowers in the vegetable gardens and I want to show you some of them. Let's start from Okra's flower.
Okra cv. Blondy
The Okra also known as Gombo (Abelmoschus esculentus (L.) Moench) is a flowering plant in the Mavaceae family related with Abelmoschus moschatus and hibiscus. The okra plants were originated from Africa. It is a perennial plant in the tropical regions but it can be coltivated as an annual in temperate regions. The edible part of the okra are the pods which can be cooked, pickled, eaten raw, or included in salads. I don't like it very much really couse they are mucilaginous when cooked, resulting in a slimy texture... if you have some tips to avoid this issue just let me know! ;)
