Guerrilla urban farming, tips & tricks.
Today I have decided to write in a different tone, if we can call it like that, I've tried to give my point of view on the importance that I believe historical, political and scientific knowledge has and will have, it seems that we will never stop to have each our own truth and I haven't come to try to impose or convince anyone of mine.
I want to show some of the sights around my garden, in case it can help, inspirate or entertain someone.
Exploring the limits of nature.
I believe the current food system is both unhealthy and unsustainable, I also think evidence obtention must be neutral and transparent and I try to keep an open mind in most areas, this is a piece of my test field with which I try to get rid of some excuses.
I'd say this is done in a Mediterranean climate, in case you want to replicate something, although I think it has little conceptual importance and you can always push the limits with a bit of imagination and knowledge (and common sense).
The space struggle is evident on this picture from last season, can you identify something besides the obvious sunflower?
Seedling.
First things first, to start, it will be necessary to plant or buy and there are a lot of ways to get seeds or cuttings (fruits, ''volunteers crops'', neighbors... you name it), you must also have some kind of container, either for substrate or water and as in the previous step, there are many ways to do it, these are some of those that have worked for me.
In this photo you can see spearmint cuttings, avocado and cherimoyas seeds (still ungerminated), about avocados I have to say that you can germinate them better and faster with substrate, personally the best results I have had, have been made with bags as you can see bellow, excuse the dirt, Saharian dust has been mixed with the last rains.
You can also see it's already asking for a transplant, behind there is a moringa tree to which I am looking for a permanent place; about spearmint I would say it is a little invasive and you'll have to keep an eye on it since it has few needs and a very fast growth.
These roots have grown only with water.
That white powder is diatomaceous earth with many uses and very useful in organic agriculture.
Finally on this side I would like to say that I am not a fan of plastic but it has given me good results giving it another useful life.
On the left there is a plastic bottle transformed into a pot (wrapped in an envelope so the sun does not reach the roots) housing an evergreen oak and on the right a carob tree bonsai project.
Beneficial wildlife.
I think it's a good idea to rely on nature itself to control and improve crops, there are many proven methods such as attracting pollinators or animals that feed on pests like ladybugs.
To attract them we will need food (aka flowers)
and shelter, although nature is very good at providing these things, you can always lend a hand.
I think that's all for today, I have more things to display, like papaya, strawberries, loofah, compost, rain harvesting and so on but I don't want to extend too much, I'll be showing more ideas and projects according to the time I have, I don't want to bore you either, since it's my first foray into this topic and I'm just an eternal apprentice.
I appreciate your time and attention.

I'll upvote your newer post cause I missed this. I'd like to live around people who are passionate about this stuff and learn through osmosis. I want to learn more about living in harmony with nature, but I'd like to find friends to learn from in 3D for that.
Thanks! I have a couple of sketches but I'm still trying to understand the platform or my ''role'' in it, I'm just learning day by day while I try to escape the rat race, I also hope to live in nature with harmony and there's a lot to do, change or even to start or study yet (climate, soils, varieties, crop associations...), although it does not seem easy, it's really comforting.
I live close to nature but not close enough to wake up next to it. I have friends in other cities who farm, I ask them lots of questions when I visit, but I still don’t feel like it’s time yet. I’ve got too much city in me.
I hope we can all get out of the rat race, we are all in the right place.
I'm pretty much in the same situation, but I think I've felt like it's time for long, land is something peculiar and it's very difficult to find something with good adaptation; water, buildings, roads, regulations and so on, if you plan to move you should at least start to thinking about it. However, there is much more to be done in the cities, there are interesting concepts like forest buildings, green-warehouses or even urban agriculture and I believe that is also necessary.
I'd love to live in a village that still has the flavor of the city with modern art and culture, a commune or something like that but not too isolated. Then we could just walk to someones farm and help them out and learn about how everything works. That's kind of how it is when I visit my friends.
You should share more. I know it's hard to justify when sometimes no one sees it but I think 3-4 posts a week are just enough when you are still finding your viewers. It seems you have been on steemit forever though!
yeah I oppened my accoun really long ago, when I first get sucked into the crypto hole, something like putting it into my todo list but with work, study and life itself I have no much time left and as you say sometimes it just get lost and no one sees it, I'll try to share more things though.
Check out andalusia (Spain) we have a great weather and a lot of villages hahah, you have an amazing plan my friend, hope to see how it takes shape.
Love your photos, plants. I have gardens too. Seeds are key. I have some strawberries. Good work.
Thanks!
Superb post my friend, I am sending you a small booster via a bidbot, enjoy the sunshine, and keep planting bro.
I will do it as much as I can, Thank you very much, you're awesome!
I spent a few hours today digging and planting also, I still have many more days ahead to do the same, all good fun.
Hope to see some upgrades on your food gardens, btw I've just remember about the freedom book, may I stop waiting for it? hahaha no hard feelings, it's simple curiosity.
I see that you are doing a very good job and you are being rewarded. keep it up!
Did it not arrive with you?
I sent that weeks ago, I have more books left, and can send another no problem bro.
Then don't worry about it, it may have been lost, I was excited but there are better things to spend money and time.
Nope, that is not good enough for me, lost or not, I will send another one tomorrow.
Hope everything goes well, thanks a lot again.
Haha! Yeah i spotted the devils lettuce in the back! Great tips and nice garden! I also have a very small space to work with. I discovered some pots that are very common but after growing some plants in them i discovered that they work really well for small spaces since it takes awhile before they become rootbound. If you give me the go ahead I’ll snap a pic later tonight and post it here so you can see what pot I’m talking about. ✌️
yeah! you got the easter egg hahah feel free to post whatever you think it can help, thanks for stopping by, hope to see more of your greens!
These round pots are less then 1 gallon
Wow it looks very healthy in that tiny space, what material is it? Now I'm trying to experiment with biodegradable seedlings like cardboard or newspapers, however I hope to find a land that suits my abilities and needs although it's a complicated thing.
It’s plastic. And yeah i fell you, if i had some land i would be set in life.
Keep pushing, perhaps someday your greens can go into the wild, are you from California or am I wrong? I do not know how the cannabis issue is now there but I've heard good news, maybe you can take advantage of blockchain or cryptos and create something pretty good.
You just planted 0.40 tree(s)!
Thanks to @alejandr0
