what an excellent foraging find! I keep hunting because they are supposed to grow in our woods but still haven't gotten lucky. I've been using rosehips instead because like you mentioned, the price to buy the elderberries online is ridiculously high - but understandable I suppose considering the work that goes into gathering, cleaning and drying them.
