Healthy delicious walnuts 🍃

Last year we collected a bumper crop of walnuts from this tree. They are nearly ready for harvesting again 😋
We love to add crushed walnuts to homemade banana bread, to eat them raw as a nutritious snack and to add them to our seasonal nut roasts. We also add walnut oil to Chinese fried rice dishes.
Walnuts have high levels of vitamin E, melatonin and polyphenols which provide an excellent source of antioxidants, higher than any other nut. Walnuts also provide a higher source of omega-3 than any other nut which protects heart health.
Omega-3, magnesium and amino acids in walnuts may decrease inflammation, increase beneficial bacteria and promote a healthy gut.
Walnuts are also reputed to reduce certain cancers, reduce the risk of type 2 diabetes, lower blood pressure and support brain health.
