Healing plants

in #naturalmedicine5 years ago (edited)

Greetings my dear Stemians, today I want to share with you all some plants very beneficial for our health and very useful in some diseases.
One of the things that we have been forced to do is to plant some fruits and medicinal plants in our homes due to the high costs that the medicines present In Venezuela
For example these days a teacher where I work presented a fever of 40 degrees and at that time we could not afford to buy medicines to lower it, however due to the campaign we have in educational institutions we have some medicinal plants such as: purslane, atamel, chamomile among others which we collect for make a tea of atamel and immediately the fever gave way.
In this way we have been intensifying the planting of some very effective medicinal plants in some disease conditions.

for example the purslane is a solitary plant, it is born around many crops and it is imposed with its vine of red color so most of the time the people start it considering it as a "bad herb" to clean their crops ignoring the properties of said plant.
Purslane is a food full of nutrients and full of health benefits.
Reason why I want to present today this incredible medicinal plant and its best benefits.
The purslane (its scientific name is: portulaca oleracea), is an edible plant with small green leaves and red stems.

She abounds in the patio of my house next to the other crops. When I look at his vine in the patio of my house I take care of it as a treasure

It is very moisturizing, since it has more than 90% water and has a salty and somewhat sour taste, similar to the taste of watercress and spinach
Because it is considered "a weed" it grows vertiginously in all climates and environments, and is found everywhere in the world.

It is also composed of 75% carbohydrates, 20% protein and 5% fat, having a very small amount of calories. It is rich in minerals and vitamins: A, C, E, betalaine and melatonin calcium, potassium, antioxidants, magnesium and magnesium.

Therefore purslane provides us:
Fatty acids and omega 3 essential for the functioning of the body, regulates the inflammation of the arteries preventing some types of heart disease and decreasing the risk of sudden death in 73%
therefore if you are one of those who wrested this powerful medicinal plant from its cultivation or its background this is a great treasure for your health

I also keep some Atamel plants due to the high cost of acetaminophen medications for headaches, to reduce fever, muscle aches ... very important that we can have this type of plant at home.
The atamel plant is a very useful herb, particularly for the digestive system scientifically known as plectranthus ornatus "boldo paraguato" and in venezuela as "matica de acetaminofen".

This plant is native to South America, has also been introduced in Europe and North Africa, in addition its leaves are used for culinary purposes, especially in Latin America. The leaves are used similar to the leaves of the laurel.
It is also a plant that has many properties for the digestive system, liver, colic, hepatitis, stomach disorders ...
It is also important to clarify that this plant should be used under professional supervision, by far the proper dose since it contains significant amounts of ascaridol, a toxic compound.

In the same way I have the chamomile, its scientific name: Matricaria recutita Linnaeus. It is cultivated in orchards and also grows in all fields. It is used for eye conditions such as inflammation, irritation, fatigue and conjunctivitis; It is also recommended to relieve colic, cough, bronchitis, to lighten the hair and to wash superficial wounds.
Chamomile is anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic, antibacterial and sedative. It is one of the best known herbs and used for its amount of healing and aesthetic properties. It is mostly ingested as tea, but it can also be used in creams or lotions.
It is also consumed mostly in tea to calm anxiety and insomnia.
