Are the End of Days Upon Us ?

Astronomers of the Czech Academy For Science are warning for increased comet activity nearby our planet, the reason for this is unknown. They are speaking of 10 asteroids along with 96 comets. In an animated video that has been launched this week, NASA shows how the 10 objects are forming a potential threat to our way of life.

The Czech scientists say chances that those space objects would collide with earth have increased dramatically. The astronomers discovered 2 asteroids with a diameter of 300 meters in the new Taurid branch. It is almost certain that there a dozen of smaller asteroids with diameters between 10 and 80 meters hidden in the branch.

The video footage was provided by Neowise which is a sub-division of NASA, Neowise is specialized in tracking down comets and asteroids in our solar system.

What is NEO ?

NEO stands for Near Earth Object it could be a comet or an asteroid that deviates from its original course because of other planets gravity pull in our solar system. When these objects come to close into earths proximity, the researchers at NASA tag them as NEOs. Since the founding of Neowise at the end of 2013 a staggering 807 NEOs have been found, 114 of them were undiscovered so far.

Big, Bigger, Biggest

NASA admits that the smaller asteroids are very brittle, so when entering the earth's atmosphere they would break apart pretty easily. But with the bigger ones it is a complete different story, if for example an asteroid with a diameter of 500 meters scatters into pieces when plunging in our atmosphere, we could have a problem states NASA.
