RE: RaspberryPi: Install a NAS

in #nas8 years ago (edited)

I'd rather just setup a Fileshare/SMB server on my PC (which is running 24/7 anyway cause Linux). Haven't found a real purpose for my Raspberry Pi yet what my PC can't do as well or better...
Guess I'll just strap a battery bank to my Pi and make it into a portable mini computer.

Sort:

Just like i do, but be sure your powerbank delivers atleast 2.4a. If you choose a lower output the pi will run but the energy symbol will blink all the time and its not stable. + a mountable touchscreen 5.5 inch or so :)
Or use your pi as a pihole ;)

I have a DNS server running locally as well through which internet connection of my Windows VM and phone is going so no point in a dedicated device as a "pi-hole".
More specifically I have a Pi Zero with Wireless capability, it should be just fine with any normal power bunk since it runs exclusively through USB power anyway (doesn't have a nower power in).
Thought about putting my password manager, certificates and other secure stuff like that on it.

Yea sure the pi zero don't need 2.4a
