My name is a Substantive Gem
Hermógenes, Rumildo, Altagracia, our country is full of people with the strangest names and it is taken for granted that Maracaibo is the winner as far as strange names are concerned, and yes ... they are right.
The truth is that nobody knows the origin of this custom, perhaps it was to scare the evil eye. I don´t know. Name as mine JAILEINY CHIQUINQUIRÁ you think about where these names come from and as a child many times I wondered what went through the head of my parents at the time of putting this name.
Such custom of placing strange names, could be originated by following the Spanish tradition of giving the children the names of the saints of their devotion, we find names like Chiquinquirá, "Jesus of Charity", "María José", "José Jesús de la Chiquinquirá "," María Eugenia ", Angelica, Preciosa María, Carmen del Pilar and that the family ends up calling them Cheo, Chucho or Chinca.
Names like Edwin, Franklin, Williams, Christopher, began to be heard in our country through the arrival of the oil companies and the first anglicisms began, but since we could not stay that way, the Venezuelan began to invent names that seem to come from the English language like Wirkinson, Yiner, Jeiner, Yumar, Kerwin, Yuriangel, Yorgean Jheickson, Yumeiry and that when combined with the Creole names you know, because we can not forget to put the names of the grandparents, these phonetic jewels are created like Johan Joseph, Jackeline Casilda, Jack Miguel and things like that.
In another era it became fashionable to combine the names of relatives to create other names, in this fashion I enter. My name is a Substantive Gem of the combination of @ jairo1945 and @ enna1949 "JAILEINY" (Jairo and Enna); But even more curious is that it was neither mother nor my father who gave invention to my name, it was the neighbor in front of my house; Very kindly the neighbor did it because according to my mother she was more creative and imaginative, and I already had previous experience, the names of her daughters left to combine Dora and Irio. They are Dignairy and Dignoiry.
And so that way my dad who was going to call me LILI preferred to put me @ jaileiny Chiquinquirá, because of course he should not forget our patron being my devoted mother. I feel happy and proud of my name, which is not ugly, just different.
If by chance you know someone or are a bearer of a strange name, be proud of whatever you call yourself. At the end it is not the name that makes one, we are forgers of their own name.
