South Africa joined the list of countries to install cryptocurrency ATM; these will be installed at northwold spar in Johannesburg.
The ATM which was imported from Portugal will be able to process various forms of cryptocurrency tokens with bitcoin and etherum inclusive.
George Neophyton, the general manager of Northwold spar and one of the early adopters of cryptocurrency remarked on the challenges of people in access cryptocurrency.
“lots of people in south Africa are into cryptocurrency space and lots of south African are watching it, however not all individuals have access to it” he said therefore the ATM hopes to change that and make cryptocurrency accessible to individuals who do not have a bank account.
Neophytu said all the individuals need to do is to scan their crypto wallet and purchase cryptocurrency of their choice which will then be transferred into their hot wallet.
However to get hot wallets individuals will have to use a reputable companies such as luno and wirex.
He added that the ATM has a set limit to R50 so users can transfer a minimum of R50 at a time.
Although users are however advised to do their research and be aware and understand what they can gt and also what they can afford to lose.
