MyPictureDay Submission - Klaipeda Ships Parade 2018
Summer is knocking on the door of Klaipeda and after opening of bikers season (two parts already posted, but some more to come yet) it comes the opening season for various types of boats sailing in the aquatory of the port of Klaipeda, so called Ship Parade for eight time now.
The mid-May event, dedicated to the European Maritime Day, has become one of the most social events in the city for bringing together more and more various initiatives and ideas each year.
Many of local yachts and boats comes this evening together, supported by Sea Ferries and other cargo ships coming inside or outside the port by this time. Dane river parade, where half a dozen water-craft, including rowboats, kayaks, barks, canoes, took a new challenge. Some shows taking place in the Klaipeda Old Town
Most fun begins on sunset with a marine tugs dance show on the Curonian Lagoon and ends up with Curonian Lagoon being lit up by brightly illuminated boats and the sky is painted with colourful fireworks.
Very nice to spend Saturday evening, however this time was damn cold one, so I came home before fireworks started. Pity, but anyhow, more interesting was to fix some boats maneuvering in the aquatory. The sea and its people have always and will inspire us.
Used long tele-photo lens which is just perfect with such kind of events when many things happening on a quite long distances at the same time
This is first part of the story, next one and maybe more colourful even (closer to sunset) to follow
Enjoy!
Also you can watch very nice drone video HERE

Beautiful! I always love boats, and taking pictures of them. I live in Rotterdam, my home has a view on the Maas and there is always so much to see. Happy to find another boat lover around :). And you mentioned bikes too? Lol. I think boats, bikes and bridges will be my favorite photography subjects forever!
