MY LOCAL NEWS] Uyo event day 22: Oron cultural and traditional day
On the 22nd December, 2023 Oron local government area took their turn to showcase their cultural and traditional day.
They happened to be one of the most organized and aesthetically pleasing local government area that have showcase their cultural display so far at the Ibom Christmas Village, Uyo.
Oron local government area is recognized as one of the greatest center of aquatic life as well as maritime activities and varrious food in the state with close proximity with the Ibaka deep seaport.
Every performance happened in quick succession in the arena and each group kept to time as alloted by the organizers.
The Wife of the governor of Akwa Ibom state Pastor (Mrs) Patience Umo Eno, the deputy governor Sen. Akon Eyakenyi , political leaders, and traditional rulers of Oron local government area were all present at the event.
Speaking to Miss. Nse-obong Obot who is from Oron local governement area and also a student of the university of Uyo, she describes today as a blessed day and that Oron people are very close to God's heart.
"I have attainded this traditional/cultural day of other local governement area here in Uyo, but I can't compare any of them to the one of today. It was absolutely outstanding!
Judging from the decorations, the seating arrangements in the arena, the varrious performances, and the timing of each performing groups were on point.
There was no disorderliness on our day, and the arena was free for performances ,unlike other days with others.
We stick to time. I think we are blessed people and we are very much close to God's heart."- Miss. Nse-obong Obot.
It was a good moment for the audience as they watch the varrious food displayed and how to cook them, the varrious traditional play.
As part of their culture, they gave a brief message/history about their red attaire which has almost become the top news in the arena.
Oron zone is not merely a geographical entity or location in Akwa Ibom state, but rather, it is a cradle of many accomplished individuals from different angle who have left an indelible mark on different fields.
However, their success experiences serve as inspirations for the present generation and generation to come, which can encourage a sense of ambition and pride.
Oron people are popularly known for their organic agricultural practices, where the community harnesses the fertile land to cultivate crops and veggies that sustain both the local people and also contribute to the broader agricultural landscape.
