When you have a modern spinning rod at your disposal, you always have to remember that it is made of high-modulus graphite fiber. And your rod, being very elastic and tolerant to bending under load, is at the same time very vulnerable to shocks and loads "on the break". This means that the fishing rod requires a fairly careful attitude both on the fishing itself and during its transportation.
Most spinning rods for sale are equipped with soft covers for storage and transportation. These covers, in principle, can protect your fishing rod from unintentional minor impacts when transporting in a car or public transport. But from accidental pinching the door of a car or bus, he will not save.
I often have to deal with the guys professionally engaged in the repair of broken rods. According to their statistics, the breakdown of spinning for reasons – "accidentally came", "pinched the door", "hit the car" and the like - is about 90 % of all appeals. Such breakdowns are very offensive. Not only do they lead to unnecessary repair costs, and often to the purchase of new gear. Angler still deprived of your favorite fishing rods that are already "formed in the arm." After all, even the most professional repair will not restore 100% of the original properties of the rod…
What to do to protect your favorite spinning from such random troubles?
We have to think about the acquisition (or self-manufacture) of a rigid tube for transportation and storage of its spinning. Such tubes, both imported and domestic production, are on sale. Moreover, some spinning rods ( there are very few of them, in this configuration) go on sale already equipped with such a tube.
It is a plastic pipe covered with a special wear-resistant material. One side of such a tube (let's call it the bottom) is deaf from the outside, and with a soft foam insert inside. The second ( let it be cover) is zippered and also the inside with soft foam. By removing the rod in such a tube, you can be calm for random strikes (even strong), pinching doors, etc.
In principle, if you do not chase the aesthetics, such a tube can be made independently. Plastic water pipe of the desired diameter solves the problem ))). The handle, cover and bottom can be made of improvised materials…
If there is a question of transportation of several spinning rods , then, in my opinion, it is better to pay attention to the finished products.
When I began to take part in fishing competitions and there was a need to transport 6-8 rods in the car, for me the question of selecting the appropriate tube for their transportation arose (to arrange a dump from a pile of tubes in the cabin of the machine, for each rod separately, I did not want much).
Imported tubes killed their price. Yes, and more than 4 rods, could not be found. But in the program of the Russian company Fisherman (now , after case, about which I'll tell you later, I have it always in the "Favorites") I found the required tube for 6-8 spinning rods. This product is made very carefully, using the idea of 2 paired tubes for 3-4 fishing rods. The tube is sheathed with a wear-resistant fabric, equipped with a handle and shoulder strap for easy transport. On the side there is an additional pocket for accessories of medium length (such as lip-gripe and other).
Well, for inveterate "home-made" nothing is impossible. I think if necessary they will be able to examine a photo of themselves to do the tube for a few rods. Besides making the homemade product "dressy" appearance, no major problems should arise!
