Few of the zander hunters are purposefully looking for and trying to catch trophy-sized fish. Lesson is not easy, and often ungrateful. It will require a large amount of time and effort from the angler. The presence in the boat of the most modern fish-searching equipment does not guarantee the capture of a zander of trophy size. Even if you are lucky to find the parking of such a fish, zander can simply not bite. After all, such huge fish eat not every day ... To catch a trophy, you need to coincide immediately many factors - the place, time, mood of the fish. And all your mastery of tackle and lure animation. And then there is a chance that you will finally feel this mighty blow to your tackle and enter into combat with a captured zander ...
For more than 25 years of catching spinning and about 20 years of fishing from a boat on the big rivers and reservoirs I managed to catch no more than 3 dozen zanders more than 5 kilograms of weight. Of these, only 9 fish were more than 7 kilograms. And only one zander has exceeded a lath in 8 kilograms (8.2 kg), and this fish still is my biggest trophy zander... And this is with the fact that I at every opportunity, every season try to give the search and catching a large zander time and attention. My stats show that big fish come across about one in a season. But there were seasons when I was not able to catch a single trophy zander. And there were years when luck smiled at me 2-3 times...
My colleagues who go fishing about the same frequency as I do, things are about the same. Although I know a few anglers who have the trophy of the captured zanders over a hundred. But they are lucky, they live in cities, standing on the banks of the Volga or Rybinsk Reservoir, and spend on fishing at times more time than I can afford.
