Horse Racing - Show Us Your California
Hi friends,
This post is an entry into the weekly Show Us Your California contest hosted by @socalsteemit where we share an aspect of our California.
The other day, I went to the a Southern California horse racing venue - Santa Anita Park. The park hosts a lot of horse racing, but the famous race is the Santa Anita Derby.
I was able to get a VIP pass and toured the horse stables. I got to see some of the trainers in action, and horses are so big and powerful up close. There are some 1,600 horses on site during racing season, and the stables and training areas were a buzz of activity. Many of the stablehands and jockeys live on site with their families as well.
Here are a few pics:
I then stayed for about 7 races, which run about every 30 minutes. I bet some money on the horses, but ended up down for the day - pretty typical. Here are a few more pics:
Overall, an amazing day at the horse race track.
Thanks for coming by and checking out a piece of my California.
Brian
