Cajon Pass - Show Us Your California
Hi Friends,
This post is an entry into the weekly contest of @socalsteemit where we show our California.
Yesterday, I tried to do some gold prospecting at a mining claim but ended up not being able to get there as its access depends on dirt roads owned by the national forest service, and they had shut the area off due to the coronavirus.
Instead, I took a detour on the way home to check out another gold claim in the Cajon Pass. I prospected for a little bit but had the wrong gear - I was planning for river gold mining and the claim in the Cajon Pass is a desert claim.
However, I enjoyed a scenic off-roading adventure in my truck and got a few picks of the Cajon Pass - check them out:
The Cajon Pass is in the San Bernardino Mountain range, and the lower part is the greater part of Eastern Los Angeles, which has a temperate climate and is fairly lush, and the top part starts the desert region on the other side of the mountains. The Cajon Pass offers many great experiences - hiking, exploring, off roading, gold prospecting, skiing/snowboarding, fishing, etc - all about an hour from downtown Los Angeles.
A great place to check out, and thanks for seeing a little bit of my California!
Brian
