My 2018: A tour around my town

in #my20187 years ago (edited)

Being born in uptown Port Harcourt metropolis, a coastal city surrounded by water, you just can’t stop receiving love and affection for been an all time city old timer, when you are both in and out of town.

  • Oh! Shout out to my city, she always wishes I am in town.

Popularly known as the garden city, we flex our bragging right around equating it to the Garden of God (Eden): because of the ornaments and gardens in, around and surrounding the metropolis

Please sorry for my low steam in manners and ethics my name is Maxie Moses.

I am an architect which you most probably  know, with my fingers up to speed with designs and it can never be over emphasized that my being part of the city has facilitated by grow th through designs due to the rapid development of the city birthing a large quest for architectural designs, which I make bold to say I have been Part of

  .

I hear many, pillow talking at my back, they say it on www.steemit.com, they even whisper on twitter that if you wish to visit a place where everyone is related and creation comes as a package, where you wouldn’t have to manage then it is the option of the Port Harcourt metropolitan city that you would wish to exhaust. How sleek is that?

Although many would only pretend to agree we all know it most probably true.

Port Harcourt (located in the south-south) is amongst the most developed and populated city in my country. Dubbed as the oil capital of the country due its rich petroleum reserve and lucrative oil industry Port Harcourt has become a melting pot for many different cultures. (and your cultural heritage will largely be welcomed).

In the process becoming an economic pillar in the main stay of the economy of the country.

Oh! My city. The goose that lays the golden egg, every other city wishes for your fame and a few others for your fortune.

Priding herself with a breed of infrastructure many cities only wish to dream of, Port Harcourt city bears boldly the footing and foundation of The Point Block of Rivers State Secretariat, an icon of the city. An 18-story building,

that boost itself to be the tallest and most gigantic building in the whole of South East and South-South geopolitical zones combined. It is one on the wonders of the state (Rivers State) and the Niger-delta region. And closely sited by it, is The Podium Block another high rise building you would wish to have in your city. I dare to stake a bet on.

Being  in my country there are things you shouldn’t neglect,

like taking a trip to see  the god of nature in his highest definition strolling by the seaside of Port Harcourt metropolis which is where I reside.

Things you would regret, like missing a chance to relax your mind in the city beaches (Port Harcourt Tourist Beach).

But there are thing you should expect like the cool night breeze steaming from the seashores of Port Harcourt at the depths of the evenings.

and things you should most probably sleep on, like you wishing to leave the serenity of my city in a hurry.

It is good enough to visit but it is twice as good to partake of the feast of love flowing from the heartbeat of the Port Harcourt metropolis. exemplified by the ever open arms of the city people to welcome you as you are, with lots of positive vibe and synergy

In my city we the city people don’t live life in a rush because we know that the past is not returned to and the future is not asked to see because we know the future started yesterday. In my city there is nothing wrong about having fun we know it’s just a part of staying young, because life’s play-let sometimes end up too short. so if oyu wish to loosen up from the native occurrence of stress and distress, you already know the choice of city to visit.

The Climate

The climate of the city (P-H) is what in expressive terms I can dare to say, is relatively seductive, considering the climatic conditions of the surrounding city, no gainsaying or second guessing.

It features a tropical wet climate associated with a lengthy period of heavy rainfall and short period of dry season, how I love my city.

The Port Harcourt metropolis has a considerably stable temperature which is defined by its worst haters as mild but in reality it is soft mannered; it has the kind of weather condition you would wish for in your city. where the sun is a friend and the rain acts as your besty.

The Different Part of Port Harcourt

Port Harcourt comprises of different part and places, associated with different happenings, and your understanding and perception of the city may most likely be largely or massively affected by the part and place in the city you slide on.

But for someone like me who is a seed and a true breed of the city, I have a firm grip of the city and can make reference to it, as a city that births to life your hidden fantasy depending on the kind of ecstasy you keep in your deep wish or deepest desire.

Port Harcourt stratified most popular areas are

  •  Port Harcourt township (or town)

That is where I represent, it is said to be the place that births first layer of development in the city. It is massively associated with infrastructure. The Second Largest National Sea Port, The largest all time groceries store (Port Harcourt mall a.k.a. Spar) and lots more find their base in PH town. How sleek is that?

  • Old GRA (Government Reserved Area)

This region is the axis where the state Governor and other government dignitaries resides. Old GRA can be liken to the throne room of the city. It is exemplified with with its quietness and serenity

  • New GRA (Government Reserved Area)

If you are in the city and you have had a stress packed day and all you wish for is a place in the city to chill, reset and recalibrate your mind, then you have a clear cut option. It is the New GRA.

  • Elekahia

Elekahia is relatively a residential area but it come with a huge infrastructure of sports facilities.

  • Rumumasi

This is purely a residential area accommodating a large number of people due to its massive land mass and span. These area arrays a mix of people from different cultural background. It is also the home of the Port Harcourt pleasure park.

  • D-line

This is arguably the coolest residential area in Port Harcourt after the Old GRA. Life in D-line is like the baby’s side. this is the part of town most foreigner would to place their stake on.

  • Elelenwo

This is a part of the town that leads you away from the main bowl of the city birthing you to the outer space of the city suburb. Saving you from the hustle and bustle of the stress and distress of the city.

  • Ogbunabali

This is the ICT capital of the city, this axis of the city is largely associated with a high level commercial and sales activity with primary products circumventing around computers and ICT accessories.

  • Rumuola

This region of the city is a relatively calm area; it is also a home to residents of the middle class, it gives resort to party people due to a number facility that keeps the night awake and ahead,  with party people despising sleep all night sliding on the ecstasy this region brings.

  • Diobu (MIile 1, Mile 2 and Mile 3)

This part of the metropolis, is packed with high population density and dense with low income earners, life in this part of town is so simple, sliding on a network of relationship and friendship where everyone from the neighborhood tends to be part of the larger family of the community.

  • Amadi flat

This is purely a residential area for people of the high and middle class characterized with high fence walls seeming like the wall of Jericho, birthing the death of neighborhood friendship and relationship.

  • Borikiri

Wow………. I love this section of town it interfaces the main bowl of the metropolitan city center and the boundaries of the city with the sea.  This is the region where nature resides and is dressed in men’s clothing.

  • Trans Amadi

This is industrial nerve centre of the city. It accommodates almost all the major multi-national and local firm, plying their trade in the city.

Economy

My birth city, could arguably be considered as the major industrial nerve centre of the country  with a large presence of multinational companies smashing their foot on the gas chasing the golden egg my city lays (petroleum) with many leaving their cities and their nations in search for greener pastures in my city.

Religion

Like most cities in the southern part of the country, my city (P-H) is predominantly a Christian society. The city is populated with numerous religious centers that one might equate the city on your first impression as the city of God.

A small number of residents adhere to the Islamic faith

Night life in the City

Aside from being the oil capital of the nation, Port Harcourt is also associated with a lively vibrant night life, if you are a party person like me.

Port Harcourt is known to be a home of lounges, clubs, dance bars and lots of restaurants. Remarkably notable is the trendy night life the New GRA births to the Port Harcourt metropolis, where a great percentage of the high-end night clubs are domiciled.

This region is almost always blazing with an up-tempo, loud and party friendly music that can be heard a good distance away.

Party people tend to come from the four cardinal points of the city to converge at this valley of musical vibes and vibration that will resonates your deepest fantasy of celebration and in turn take your ecstasy to cloud nine of fun.

With increase in the number of this clubs there has also been increase in sex and sexually orientated business as seen in number of strip clubs and brothels.

Noticeable in this zone, when the night goes blind with darkness, are commercial sex workers, mostly extremely beautiful, spanning at an age range of 18 to 35 looking smashingly stunning, and fresh from the factory with loudly decorated make up that might tempt a dead man, how I hate to say.

Port Harcourt: The executive story

Port Harcourt is a metropolitan city that slides through changes every now and often. Port Harcourt is most often referred to as no man’s land a statement that has always left me sick to the point that I can’t eat or sleep. But be it as it may, it is so easy to see if you look closely you will see that Port Harcourt gives a peaceful haven to all, that find their footing rooted in the city.

It is the most accommodating city in the country. Though many from, other parts, laugh it off they partly know it’s largely true.

Been born and bred in the city I have firsthand information of almost all happening that has transcended over time so you can trust me when I tell you. you know my information isn't false so it won't fail you

Everything was cool in the city until politics came into the picture, democracy came with it lot. Lots of its accessories hinged on developments that we are still leveraging on.

On the whole: there have been a lot of developments spanning from infrastructure to fun site like

• Mono-Rails

• Sport facility

• Port Harcourt mall

  •  Pleasure park

Isaac Boro park

  •  Amusement part

Port Harcourt sea port

  • The library

  • Zoo
  • The civic centre
