My 2017: Welcoming the new year - Not Always The Best Time // No Siempre Los Mejores Tiempos
Una de las tradiciones que tenía desde muy pequeño era poder salir de vacaciones en estas fechas de fin de año y pasar el tiempo con la familia. Desafortunadamente este año no fué así.
Mi padre lleva luchando contra el cáncer por más de cinco años y este año a sido el más difícil.
One of the traditions I had since very little was traveling on these holly days and spent some time with the family. Unfortunately this year that wasn't possible.
Mi fathers is fighting against the cancer for more than five years now and this last year it has been the most difficult.
El viernes 30 tuvo que ser hospitalizado por retención de líquidos. El doctor nos informó que tendrían que practicarle una pequeña cirugía al día siguiente para poder drenar el líquido y así poder aminorar el dolor del que padece casi de manera permanente.
La cirugía fué muy sencilla y sin mayor dificultad y todo resultó de maravilla, el dolor había disminuido y nos podríamos ir a casa esa misma tarde. Llegó familia de mi mamá, así que podríamos estar menos solos.
Una vez en casa pasamos una velada tranquila, y aunque no tuvimos una cena deslumbrante, pudimos estar en familia.
Este año no hubo abrazos y buenos deseos, sólo la certeza de que estábamos juntos todos un año más.
The Friday 30 he had to be hospitalized because he was withholding liquids. The doctor told us that he had to practice a little surgery next day to drain all the liquids and lessen a little bit the pain.
The surgery was very simple and without any difficulties, everything was fine, the pain ceased and we could leave that same day. Some family from my mum arrived that afternoon so we could be less alone.
Once we were at home we could enjoy a quiet night, and although we didn't had a huge dinner, we could spend some family time.
This year there were no hugs and good wishes, only the certainty that we were together one more year.
El día primero recibimos la visita de la familia de mi papá y pudimos comer juntos. Filete de pescado y camarones en salsa roja.
Por la tarde recordamos que era cumpleaños de mi sobrino más pequeño, y aunque no tuvo fiesta, si le compramos su pastel de cumpleaños.
The first day of the year we received the visit from my father family and we could eat together. Fish steak with shrimp in red sauce.
By the noon we remembered that that same day was the birthday from my little nephew, and even if it wasn't a proper party, we bought a birthday cake.
Eso fue lo mejor de este inicio de año, ver a mi sobrino realmente disfrutar su pastel y de la compañía de su familia.
That was the best thing from this starting year, seeing the little kid enjoy his cake and the company from the family.
Creo que es bastante claro que no fué la mejor manera de recibir el año nuevo, pero a pesar de todo, hay cosas muy rescatables de todo lo anterior.
Es difícil tener que vivir ciertas etapas de la vida (enfermedades, fallecimientos, etc.), pero es reconfortante ver que a pesar de todo siempre habrá momentos que te brinden paz y gente que esté dispuesta a ayudarte y hacerte compañía aún en los momentos más difíciles.
Por eso mismo me gustaría desearles un excelente año a ustedes y a sus seres queridos. Que este año que inicia logren sus objetivos y que, aún más importante, gocen de buena salud y siempre tengan a alguien que esté ahí con ustedes.

I thinks it's obvious that it wasn't the best way to receive the new year, but after all, I think there are something really good about all that.
It's hard to live some stages of the life (diseases, death, etc.), but it's comforting know there would be moments that bring you some peace and people around you that would help you and make you company in that hard times.
For all that, I would like to wish an excellent year for you and your beloved ones. That on this starting year you achieve all your goals, and more importantly, you have good health and always have someone near you.
