Celebration of a new year in Nigeria

  • Crossing Over Night

Well, this is when people go to churches and pray to God for a new beginning. They leave as early as 7pm or as late as 10pm to pray to God to give them a year of plentiful blessings, good health or any personal desire they want in the new year.

Though we have some people who would rather pray at home before the clock strikes 00:00am 2018, praying fervently for a better year than the previous.

They usually pray into the new year and finally get some sleep later after praying.

  • Party Freaks

Parties are held in communities or towns in celebration of the new year. A DJ is usually called for entertainment, foods and drinks are usually served.

Its like one big festival of party, you drink all the booze you can drink, eat what you can fill yourself with and party like never before. The party can be done in the night of the eve of new year or at night on new year's day or sometimes both.

  • Going Clubbing

Its time to party in the club, dancing all through the night. Yes, you can go clubbing to celebrate the new year. Enjoy your life, drink away your sorrows from 2017 and start afresh this new year.
