Answering Some Questions For Contest
Today I will write another type of post for a change because @suesa is hosting a contest where 1k delegation is offered for two months for the winner. Yes, I would like to win this prize but if I don't its fine too because @suesa gives me a reason to post something else for a change than my photography stories and this is the most important here right now.
You have until 19th May to participate so give it a go and also write your entry. Read the contest rules in this post
The Topic:
What is your vision for Steem? My vision is simple, I have a belief that crypto will go mainstream at some point in the future. Along with that Steem will also get millions of eyes on it so all we early users can smile a bit in the future.
So let's answer some questions now.
What brought you to Steem?
It was January 2018 when I was exploring another top 50 coins and tokens I was not familiar with yet. At some point, I stumbled upon STEEM. I read the white paper and also went through a lot of user reviews until finally, I decided to create an account and try it out. I knew that It wasn't a way to start earning a lot of money blogging but since I was not posting my photography stories to Facebook, Instagram or any other blogging site I thought it might be a good idea to try out Steemit.
When I started out I read that the key to start earning at least something is to be consistent and engage with others. That is what I have been doing since January 2018. The longest break I have had from writing here was 10 days when I was traveling on Iceland.
I also did investment and spent 250USD and bought Steem for 5USD each. Looking back that was not so great idea the pice wise but what's done is done. If Steem goes below 20. then I will probably invest some more.
What made you stay?
First of all, I grew to love the community and people I follow here. I love reading about everyone's' journeys and photo blogs. Sadly many great people are inactive today but I hope they find their way back here at some point. Secondly, I also found out that I like to write and share stories behind my photo travels. At first, I thought that maybe I get bored at some point but I didn't.
So I'm staying and I have no plans for leaving. Low Steem price does not ruin it for me much, I see it as a buying opportunity and sooner or later I think Steem will rise. It might be months or years, no one knows but it will happen.
What do you wish would change?
There is not much I don't like but some things I have. I don't really like upvoting bots because people with A LOT of money upvote their posts so heavily and I see it as stealing from reward pool. Of course, there is no way for upvoting bots to be gone but yeah it felt like this matter needs to be mentioned.
Secondly, I think it is too hard to start up here now with new accounts due to resource credits. People who don't make an investment will not be able to use this platform correctly after posting and making a couple of comments or a transaction. After this, they are done for this day. This is probably a dealbreaker for many new people.
And third, sometimes I find it difficult to see what progress is going on with Steem team. I feel like they don't keep us up to date enough with improvements and updates or what are they really doing all this time.
What do you think Steem needs in terms of apps?
Hmm, not sure. Right now there is everything I need. I don't use many apps actually. I use Steempeak as a posting site but this is another Steem front end and I'm not sure whether to call this app. I do use one app, this is @Actifit and I think this is brilliant.
I think if someone made an app where you can directly exchange Steem to fiat, that would be awesome. No need to deal with several exchanges.
I miss a couple of contests that took place a while ago. This is not an app talk but I feel like I need to write this in this section.
There was a contest account @photogames hosted by @jarvie where people had to guess for example the ISO, shutter speed or focal length of the shot, it was so much fun but unfortunately, it stopped. Another one was @naturecontest hosted by @shadalne. There were different daily topics for example trees Tuesday, clouds Friday and so on, also so much fun. So this is shoutout for you to maybe start it again :}
I would host something like this myself too but unfortunately, I'm not rich enough to share out prizes daily and I like to compete myself.
What has been your best Steem experience so far?
I think the best experience was my first @curie upvote. It was a little more than a year ago. I only got rewards worth a couple of cents before and on one day I woke up and realized I had 150 Steem dollars under my post. I was like WHAT THE HELL, where did that come from ?? I was like really surprised and this is the greatest experience and probably stays the best.
By the way, at the moment I'm on my way to becoming a Curie curator myself because I often trying to find new authors myself and give them my couple of cents upvote if the post is good. So I wish I had more power to do something for starting up great authors. So let's hope it works out and I pass the tests and at some point become a curator. What an honor would that be.
Another one is a moment of surprise when a bunch of other steemians unexpectedly invited me to show them around Estonia so we went on a little road trip and did a drinking session in Tallinn afterward with even more steemians.
I don't remember when I last wrote that much, I just spent an hour writing this but it was great explaining about my Steem visions and my points of views.
Thanx @suesa for hosting this contest!
You misspelled my name :P
Embarrassing I don't know how that happened, your name in the end was right XD.
Anyway, I fixed this error.
It happens xD
@reggaemuffin has more issues with that than I have, people come up with the most interesting versions of his name all the time.
Lol, I can imagine XD
Never tag the @reggeamufin :D
Thanks for share your vision with us.
Nice post my friend...
Thanx!
