Here's how to make mustard greens grow fast and fertile

  1. Water the Plants Every Day
Remember, watering only needs to be done when it's not raining. This watering process is very important because mustard plants need a lot of water. You can water the plants every morning before 9 or in the evening after 3, when the sun is not too hot. Use a special pitcher for watering plants (gembor) to make your job easier. Water the plants with sufficient water. Do it wholeheartedly for all the mustard plants that you maintain.

  2. Give Manure
You can use manure as the main fertilizer for mustard plants. This fertilizer contains a lot of organic matter needed by plants to support their growth. Because it suggests the use of manure from cow manure or goat manure. This fertilizer is suitable for mustard plants. You must use mature manure, namely fertilizer that has been fermented for at least 3 months. Sprinkle this fertilizer around the plant stems.

  3. Spray with Leaf Fertilizer
Most of the mustard plant structure is the leaves. Therefore, we must maintain the condition of these leaves properly. Focus on the growing part of the mustard leaf. You can support its growth by providing a special fertilizer for leaves, namely NPK fertilizer. You can also buy NPK fertilizer at the Plant Store. Since it is a chemical fertilizer, you must be careful when using it. Use NPK fertilizer according to the recommended dosage. Excessive use of fertilizers is actually toxic to plants.

  4. Recognize the Symptoms of Pest Attack
Mustard plants have very fresh leaves. Even the freshness of mustard leaves is able to tempt the hearts of insects to eat them. Not a few pests that attack mustard leaves, then gnaw them little by little. The first signs of an existing attack are the appearance of small holes on the leaves. This hole is formed by insects that eat mustard leaves. If you find mustard leaves that are unnaturally hollow, you must immediately take steps to control the pest.

  5. Treat Sick Plants
Mustard plants are also living things that can experience pain. Diseases are generally caused by fungal, fungal or bacterial attacks. The activity of disease germs around the plants causes the growth of mustard greens to become abnormal. For example, the plant becomes yellowish, the plant experiences drought, decay occurs in some parts of the plant, until the plant dies. You must provide treatment quickly and appropriately when you find the initial symptoms of an attack.

  6. Pull the Grass in the Land
The presence of grass on the land can actually threaten the cultivated mustard plants. These grasses will become competitors for mustard greens in getting nutrients and water available in the land. As a result, the water and fertilizer that you apply are not absorbed optimally by the mustard plants. Some are taken by the grass that grows around it. The result is that plant growth becomes abnormal. To do prevention, you must be diligent in cleaning the grass that grows on the land.

  7. Stockpile More Soil in Beds
We recommend planting mustard greens in beds to avoid standing water. Understandably, the high water content in mustard greens makes it impervious to outside water. Plants will easily rot if exposed to standing water. But over time, the height of these beds will be lower due to landslides by rain and splash water. You have to regularly repair the beds by backfilling them with soil.
