Senator Elizabeth Warren attacked Elon Musk for practicing entirely legal tax avoidance, which is not the same as illegal tax evasion. Musk responded by calling Warren “Senator Karen.”

Joy Reid leaped into the fray, claiming that “…for misappropriating black vernacular for misogynistic purposes, Elon Musk is the absolute worst.”

White people don’t own the English language or any part of it. Neither do black people. To claim that only black people can call someone a “Karen” is ridiculous. And to assume that an attack on a highly combative female politician is based in misogyny is also ridiculous.

Merriam-Webster definition of misogyny:
hatred of, aversion to, or prejudice against women.

Merriam-Webster definition of misandry:
a hatred of men.
