Mercury is found in liquid state when at Room temperature because

1. It has a low melting point and so need a little heat to melt it because of the weak bond between the atoms.

2. The electrons of mercury are very close to The nucleus and swing around it at near the speed of light making it appear more massive than other electrons and so makes it difficult for mercury to share electrons. Simply put, it does not share valence electrons.
